Steller sea lions have a thick course fur when dry and a slick smooth fur when wet. A thick layer of blubber
serves as insulation from the cold Pacific waters. They make a low roaring sound and are often quite vocal.
Well developed facial whiskers aid in finding there way underwater and in locating prey.
