A passion for nature and wildlife,
a background in computers and networking and a love of travel and photography
add up to the exceptional images presented by celebrated nature photographer
Wayne Higgins.
Growing up in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains in Western Massachusetts,
Wayne developed an appreciation for nature and the wildlife resident
in the surrounding forests. Accompanied by a used 35mm Kodak Rangefinder
camera a fascination with photography was born.
With an education in Information Technology and computer networking
he naturally gravitated to digital photography. Shooting with Canon
professional digital cameras (EOS 1Ds and D60 camera bodies) and Canon's
professional "L" series of lenses allows for the highest quality
results.
The ability to do all of the photo processing allows the artist complete
control over the final image. In the digital darkroom Wayne makes the
final adjustments to the image in preparation for the fine art print.
He stresses the fact that these are not composite images but are presented
"as shot" with adjustments limited to that which might be
done in a traditional darkroom. The resulting proofs may go through
two or three transformations before Wayne approves the final print.
We think you will agree the results are worth the effort!
Wayne's photographs span the country from Maine to Alaska... Focusing
mainly on breathtaking landscapes and wildlife in their natural habitat,
the images show a talent for composition and a concern for the environment
and man's effect on it.
Recently shooting on location in Northern Canada and Alaska, Wayne has
brought back stunning images from the wilderness of the "last frontier"
and heartwarming photos of its wildlife. We hope you enjoy these photographs
as much as we enjoyed bringing them to you.
